Steering wheel rings - Car - Ford Focus MK2 (2008-2011)

The steering wheel clockspring (also known as a spiral cable or rotary connector) is a key component that provides an electrical connection between the steering wheel and the vehicle’s electronic systems.
It allows signals to pass for the airbag, horn, radio controls, and cruise control – even while the steering wheel is turning.

A faulty clockspring usually shows the following symptoms:

  • Non-functioning horn or steering wheel buttons

  • Illuminated airbag warning light (SRS)

  • Cruise control or radio controls not responding

When replacing the clockspring, it’s crucial to set it to the center position before installation; otherwise, it may break during the first full steering rotation.
