Comfort units (GEM), Fuse boxes - Car - Ford C-Max MK1 (2008-2010)

The GEM (Generic Electronic Module) in Ford vehicles controls comfort and electrical systems such as central locking, wipers, lighting, and immobilizer communication. It is usually located under the passenger glovebox.

In older models like the Ford Focus MK1 or Mondeo MK3, the GEM module can be replaced directly plug-and-play without any additional diagnostic work. In the Focus MK2, replacement is also possible plug-and-play, but it is recommended to fine-tune some functions through additional coding – for example using the ForScan diagnostic software. In newer models such as the Mondeo MK4 and related vehicles, the GEM module must be paired with the engine control unit (PCM) and the keys to ensure proper system functionality.
